Aalinhybrid
The Aalinhybrids, Aalindari-Hybrids or simply Hybrids are an artificially created species related to the Aalindari, created by hybridisation technology. While originally a product of early genetic modification efforts to support terraforming by Aalindari scientists, these hybrids later developed a unique culture and identity of their own, becoming regarded by many as a unique species altogether, albeit related to their non-hybrid cousins.
History
The initial hybridisation technology stems from the early days of Aalindari space exploration. An unknown Aalindari scientist, who's name has been expunged from records, developed Project Chimera with the intent to help terraformers adapt more easily to the native atmospheres of planets due for settlements. However, as these hybrids spent the entirity of their time surrounded by other hybrids, they developed their own distinct culture.
Once their terraforming jobs were complete, they found reintegrating with the rest of Aalindari society troublesome as many traditionalist gene councils viewed their animal features as abhorent, with some of these councils going as far as to deem the modifications illegal within their sectors and sentencing them to work in terraforming prisons. Other more accepting gene councils argued that it would be cruel to force the valliant settlers to change, and championed their changes across inter-system communications. While this storm raged on, the majority of the 'Aalinhybrids' as they came to be known as took flight to continue putting their terraforming skills to use to avoid persecution.
