Black Star Replika Division (BSRD)
The BSRD [Black Star Replika Division] designs and distributes Replika across known BSC territories or presence by the Black Star Science Division (BSSD). It consists of a sect of androids spanning over two model lines, each based on numerous high-proficiency workers plucked from within the Confederacy across history. Each region manufactures Replika identically, but they are made to suit the environment, and may be unique among other Replika when introduced to a melting pot. The two model lines available are the Conventional Models that have seen service stretching back to the formation of the confederacy, and the more recent Stellar Empire Hybridised Model which operates with xenoform derived technology.
Anatomy
All of the Replika model lines appear roughly similar, but there are obvious identifiers that set them apart. Both models have legs that end in a stilt, often referred to as magstilts, and function as magnetic anchors. Both can have hardpoints for the installation of modules fitting their station. They all contain autorepair modules that can heal them when directed by a capable Replika engineer. All Replika variants rely on the NeuralNet for important functions and communication, but only the S.E.H.R Replika variants avoid the dire detriments of degradation and the engineering limitations of the Conventional Model Replika.
Conventional Model
Styled after that of their Terran counterparts, all conventional units are built with a carbon-steel skeleton, a basic, utilitarian biosynthetic organ system maintained with oxidant, and carbon steel plating to support a synthetic dermis. They are easily identified by a variety of ridges over their body, the most obvious being on their faces. Their intelligence cores are built in tandem with a heavily modified, once-Terran RSP that influences their skillsets, abilities, and determines their function.
No memories from the template are consciously accessible. There are recorded instances of these manifesting during late-stage neural-degradation, where the boundaries between the RSP and the Replika mind begin to degrade. In such cases, unit-termination and replacement is standard-practice if the ALPR, FLKR, or engineer units cannot repair them.
Stellar Empire Hybridised Replika - S.E.H.R
Considered the next step in Replika evolution, the S.E.H.R Replika were born from the BSC’s unlikely bond with a mirror version of itself, the Stellar Empire, on the other side of an anomaly. The Replika of the Stellar Empire have the same general designs as the conventional models, but they have unique factors. The biosynth systems that are normally simplistic in conventional models are replaced with a highly sophisticated, efficient variant. They can sleep, eat, and drink to slim down their recharge times, have all the senses organics do, and they don’t experience degradation. Instead, their mental health states can be as varied as any organic.
What really sets the S.E.H.R apart from the rest of the Replika models is how the conscious mind interacts with the RSP donor Template. It is no longer a fight, and is instead designed to be symbiotic in nature. Though the Template is not conscious, it serves as a subconscious guide for a growing Replika to reflect on. All S.E.H.R Replika are capable of being created in the image of any Astrosapient form, though they lack the associated traits.
Types
| Designation | Description |
|---|---|
| ALPR | ALPR are Replika used for the psychological support of the collective. They act as NeuralNet signal relays and boosters while actively maintaining the automated systems in the wake of the stationed FLKR. Though influential and resourceful among their peers, they are smaller in stature. ALPR will often link up with other ALPR to perform their therapeutic duties open to all members of the BSC.
Conventional Model: ALPR are extremely prone to degradation and require positive reinforcement, literary texts, socialization, and work to maintain their mental states. S.E.H.R Model: With ample time spent practicing music or other related hobbies, a S.E.H.R ALPR can effectively handle their mental state on their own. They still have all the tools and utilities to manage it the traditional way for Conventional Models, but their extended freedom and stability offers an inclination to resolve these issues with more natural, creative methods. |
| BSLR | A general purpose Replika, the BSLR historically are typically utilized in domestic tasks such as cooking, cleaning, basic maintenance, and basic first aid. They will build up a desire for socialization and tend to take an interest in finer art such as but not limited to, cooking, painting, and sculpting, to name a few.
Conventional Model: BSLR are not suited for combat scenarios or high stress environments. They tend to be emotionally fragile and require careful uplifting and interaction. S.E.H.R Model: BSLR of the S.E.H.R variety are for all intents and purposes a completely new model. They are a jack of all trades capable of fighting alongside marines or cleaning up when needed. They have no specialization by default, and are encouraged to find their own paths to fill the gaps or build redundancy. It has been observed for them to favor becoming pilots. |
| FLKR | Acting as the lead of the BSRD units, the FLKR is poised above all other Replika units both figuratively and literally due to their tall stature. They possess a far stronger netlink with other BSRD units compared to ALPRs, granting a level of psychological control and introspection to ensure all Replika models are working efficiently and within allowed parameters. They feature prominently in propaganda posters. They are made to be assisted by the KABR units. FLKR units that are not intentionally bound to a NeuralNet do not have access or control over it, and instead default to KABR tasks to help any existing local FLKR.
Conventional Model: FLKR are emotionally detached and strictly focused on the logistics of managing a Replika network. They have very little opportunity for personal growth and focus on their tasks with a slavish adherence to protocol. S.E.H.R Model: S.E.H.R FLKR share many of the same responsibilities as the conventional model, but they manage their divisions with care and quality, acting as a role model and guide instead of ruling solely with a cold iron fist. They tend to be more understanding, but leniency depends on the lessons to be learned. |
| KABR | Acting as logistics support for FLKR units presiding over facilities, the KABR takes care of the lesser-tasks associated with the FLKR unit such as information processing, statistical calculations, and initiating officer corrections. They have great success in tackling secretarial and administration tasks. They are the only conventional model approved by the BSRD to take on a Terran male form.
Conventional Model: KABR are very asocial and greatly depend on their assigned FLKR. This potential weakness in neural stability is best combated with positions of power or items of symbolic power, such as a gun, a badge, or other similar objects. S.E.H.R Model: S.E.H.R KABR are not too different from their contemporaries, but their function has fundamentally changed. Instead of specifically relying on FLKR, they are able to freely assist any position that their skillset is compatible with. They can be as isolated as they wish or as social as they can stand. They like to collect hobbies to master, and move on from one to the next as they go. |
| KLMR | A combat engineer designed for orbital service, these hardy, utilitarian, and solemn soldiers excel as scouts and battle technicians. They are excellent survivalists, especially when sporting their armored suit configuration. Their neural pattern is based on a resilient survivor of a frozen solid world orbiting a dwarf sun. This world has long since been abandoned by the BSC.
Conventional Model: KLMR are built for solitude and they prefer it. Attachments with KLMR are a quick way to get the unit’s neural patterns to degrade. ALPR and FLKR are actively encouraged to monitor these Replika for degradation. S.E.H.R Model: S.E.H.R KLMR tend to be cheery, almost happy-go-lucky in their demeanors. They are often highly creative and enjoy expressing themselves through their work, in whatever capacity that may be. They are known to create as a form of artistic expression, such as fabricating their own instruments and composing their own music, for mental self care. |
| LKBR | Based on the SBLR model, the LKBR is of similar gargantuan size, and is typically deployed in the backlines, acting as a simultaneous ballistic shield, and dispenser of abominable firepower. In a sense, they act as literal walking tanks. Unlike their more industrial counterparts, LKBRs require intensive maintenance to ensure focus on artillery tasks. LKBR are capable of leaving their suits when they wish, though doing so increases their anxiety if they are not in a safe place.
Conventional Model: ALPR are integral in maintaining LKBR mental statuses. The loss of an ALPR in combat situations can be deeply damaging to a LKBR, and it is advisable that in such cases, the ALPR unit is replaced rapidly to prevent LKBR instability. S.E.H.R Model: S.E.H.R LKBR are much more stable and do not require an ALPR for day-to-day operations. They tend to take on a more tactically minded approach to combat situations and have an increased social drive to interact with the collective. |
| LMSR | Rarely ever seen, LMSR units are made for covert operations, deep scouting, and subterfuge agents. They are typically assigned a faux identity and commonly act as diplomats. They have no limitations to how they can appear, and like the ZEHR, possess a unique sense of professionalism and loyalty to the BSC that guides them in their every move. They are highly lethal, though those who learn this tend not to be able to spread it.
Conventional Model: LMSR are capable of existing for long periods without maintenance due to a degradation resistant mindstate. FLKR units can detect an LMSR regardless of purpose, though ALPR are left in the dark. LMSR can degrade incredibly quickly when information about their template is revealed. S.E.H.R Model: Due to their highly advanced biological systems and inner linings, S.E.H.R LMSR are able to avoid detection in conventional medical scans by simulating what would be present, including markers for diseases, blood types, and tissues. Specialized scans run by studied professionals will betray their true nature. Their mental states are far more stable, and due to this, they may take many forms and many lives. |
| MCLR | The primary overseer of the ZEHR units, MCLRs stand notably taller than their counterpart. They act as the intermediary position between a standard Replika and the FLKR/ALPR capabilities in Neural Net manipulation. MCLR natively are capable of managing and governing ZEHR units over the Neural Net that have been assigned to their command. Their templates are typically donated by security minded individuals such as ISD personal protection agents or bodyguards.
Conventional Model: MCLR templates manifest an apparent interest in history, particularly that of the BSC, alongside a zealous disdain of xenoforms that can manifest violently without proper training, observation, or support from accompanying ZEHR, ALPR, or FLKR. S.E.H.R Model: S.E.H.R MCLR do not have the same drawbacks that Conventional models do. Their interests can be anything they find worth the hyperfixation, and they do it well. They may actively seek resolution and understanding before committing to violence when it comes to interaction with Xenoforms. In addition, they can actively work to help degraded Conventional Model ZEHR return to health without the help of an ALPR or FLKR. |
| MSCR | MSCRs work effectively as medical personnel, excelling in the diagnosing, treatment, and surgery of both biological and machine. Many skilled MSCR find their niche as scientists and researchers as well. They are most often seen assisting with medical documentation and processing in non-combat areas, but they will venture out onto the battlefield without a second thought.
Conventional Model: Though MSCRs are not capable of emotionally connecting with people, they have an affinity for animals, and are often assigned flora, fauna, or pathogen cultures to take care of. They usually appear as emotionally despondent and awfully vindictive. S.E.H.R Model: S.E.H.R MSCR, like all other S.E.H.R Replika, have a full range of emotion and self determination. Conventional Models upgraded to a S.E.H.R may experience some struggles adapting to this. All S.E.H.R MSCR are equipped with empathetic qualities, but the degree of which, and the purpose, is left up to them. |
| SBLR | This unit excels in the duties within hazardous mining and resource extraction operations, defending against extreme extrasolar radiation, and heavy cargo transfers. Due to their nature as workers, regardless of their imposing and highly resistant stature, they are not suited for combat. Their neural pattern is extremely resistant to degradation.
Conventional Model: SBLR are the most stable of all conventional model replika. They need very little tending to, though are extremely stoic. They require very little attention to keep them productive, and can usually be consoled and assisted with brief emotional contact. S.E.H.R Model: To the S.E.H.R variants, construction and tasks are more of an occupation than a permanent assignment. SBLR may leave their suits at any point they wish to tackle other duties or hobbies. They are innately experts at operating heavy machinery. Though very social when they are not on task, they are known to pour their attention into their construction tasks, whether that be building a bridge, a mine, or a ship, and are sure to leave their creative mark in whatever architecture they touch. |
| ZEHR | ZEHR are the standard for security enforcement. They are typically given military armaments to work with. They are built to hold themselves to a high standard, even to the point of creating cliques amongst themselves and hazing one another to support this behavior. Though they are not the standard for a Replika soldier, they serve the role effectively. They are made to be commanded and managed by MCLR units.
Conventional Model: ZEHR are cool, collected, and emotionally detached. This perspective grants them a deeply analytical insight into their surroundings. They are made to be prepared for violence, and do not tend to form much in the way of connection with others. S.E.H.R Model: Unlike conventional models, S.E.H.R ZEHR are outgoing, approachable, and emotionally intelligent. They are still prone to forming cliques, but have no need or natural inclination to resolve disputes with violence. They have been equipped with the tools to handle matters diplomatically if need be, and have freedom in how they maintain their professionalism. |
