Llyr Galactic Penitentiary is a small station within orbit around the planet Llyr. The prison was created in CY 288 by Terranova Galactic Corrections, with facilities for shuttle transport, a control room and additional facilities designed to house a maximum of two hundred Astrosapients. It was designed to facilitate the terraforming of its orbitting planet.
History
The first designs of the prison came in late CY 250, presented as a proposed solution to the Galactic Population Crisis. It was built on Terras II and completed in CY 288. After construction it was sent to S10929-G34 on an unmanned journey, where it was caught by the Belenos Research Station. Operation of the penitentiary began in CY 300, with a goal of stabilizing the climate by the next century.
CE 323
Twenty-three years and three cycles after the LGP's arrival in Llyr, during a routine supply acquisition requests communication, the L.L.C.A. of Belenos station experienced a malfunction. The device, whose performance had been proven to be robust, spat out errors indicating its target was no longer available. Initially thought to be a technical fault, subsequent repairs and standard realignment procedures indicated that the relay station and all 36 backups had gone missing. Without the ability to communicate home, it was expected that the supply convoy scheduled for the cycle would enter the sector with the means to repair the fault. The hauler never arrived.
